Glass Tech Gathering 12-14 Feb 2009
With the rising cost of gases, a discussion about where the glass community
will be looking for its next energy source and how we will get there is well
overdue. It is with great pleasure that I send the following invitation:The first ever Glass Studio Tech Discussion will be held at Penland School
of Crafts Feb 12-14, 2009. If you are interested in coming, we would love to
have your input in the conversation, and Penland will house you while you
are here for the discussion.

Some topics covered:
*Energy usage and efficiency and appropriate equipment scaling
*Electric furnace install considerations (Short circuit analysis/arc flash
awareness) *Recuperation – in depth – limitations of Eclipse systems -
Analysis of recuperation based on engineering principles vs field data – NOx
problems – measuring the effects of recuperation.
*Combustion system design and tuning – in depth – using O2 analyzer and
draft gauge as well as engineering tools for correctly sizing gas and CA
systems
*Resources for the tech – a reading list, engineering guides, tools and
software, best vendors
