GAS Conference 2012 Green Panel “Sustainable Glass Education”
Should educational faculty be actively addressing the sustainability of its facilities as a part of the curriculum for it current students that are studying glass art? With the continued rising cost of fossil fuels can we afford not to?

What I took away from the green panel at the 2012 Toledo, OH G.A.S conference this past June. Art students were very much concerned about the rising costs of traditional gas fired glass studios. Faculty at universities with outdated inefficient equipment were hesitant to bring the “energy hungry program costs” to the attention of the school for fear of negative effects.
